All Culminate Group therapists are registered with their Ontario regulatory college (CRPO or OCSWSSW).
Choosing a therapist comes down to three things: fit, credentials, and logistics. Research consistently points to the working relationship between you and your therapist as one of the strongest ingredients in good therapy, so it's worth taking the time to find someone you feel comfortable with, whose approach makes sense to you, and whose credentials you can verify.
Every therapist at Culminate Group offers a free 20-minute consultation. Treat it like an interview: describe what's bringing you in, ask how they would approach it, and notice how you feel in the conversation. Do you feel heard? Rushed? Judged? A good therapist will welcome the questions, and if the fit isn't right, our intake team will help you find someone better suited rather than pushing you to continue.
In Ontario, psychotherapy is provided by members of several regulated professions. A Registered Psychotherapist (RP) is regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO); a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) holds a Master of Social Work and is regulated by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Both are authorized to provide psychotherapy within their scope of practice, and both are recognized by most extended health plans, though plans differ in which designations they cover, so it's worth confirming with your insurer. You may also see Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying): a CRPO registrant completing the final requirements for independent practice while working with clinical supervision, often a more affordable option, held to the same professional standards.
Both colleges maintain public registers where you can look up any registrant by name and confirm their status: the CRPO Public Register and the OCSWSSW Online Register. The register shows a therapist's registration number, category, and whether they're authorized to practise. We encourage you to check: every Culminate Group therapist is listed, and each profile on this site links to the relevant college register.
Standard 50-minute individual sessions at Culminate Group are $170 to $185, depending on the therapist. Psychotherapy and counselling services are exempt from GST/HST, so no tax is added, and a sliding scale is available for clients experiencing financial hardship. OHIP does not cover psychotherapy in private practice, but most extended health plans do, and many of our therapists offer direct billing to major insurers. Sessions are available in person at our Hintonburg office (250 City Centre Ave, Suite 402) or virtually anywhere in Ontario over a secure, PHIPA-compliant video platform, so your choice of therapist isn't limited by your commute.
